Each time we read a book to our preshooler we should do a Book Walk. Doing a Book Walk helps children to learn about books and how to use them. Find a special time every day when your child is interested and you have time to enjoy the book with your child.
Before reading the story,
Show your child the Front Cover, Back Cover, the Spine and Title page of the book.
Point the to the Title and read it to you child
Point to the authors name and say it, explain to your child that this is person who wrote the words in the book.Point to the name of the illustrator and say it, explain to to you child that this is the person who drew the pictures in the book. Ask your child to look at the picture on the cover of the book. Ask what he or she thinks the book is about.
